The natives to Blipblupblib, Cephaloids are a humanoid species similar to Earth squids. They have internal ‘shells,’ shaped similar to human bones, and their flesh is soft, rubbery, and sensitive to humidity levels. They are amphibious, but require a source of water at all times.
Aside from their human-like arms and legs, Cephaloids also have 4 auxiliary limbs, in the form of dexterous, head-mounted tentacles. They come in two sets: two shorter, front mounted tentacles, for grasp food or the like, and 2 larger, back-mounted tentacles, for swimming and long-distance grabbing.
Cephaloids are quite intelligent, the first species in their system to develop interplanetary travel (and likely were on the cusp of interstellar travel before humanity arrived). They vary widely in personality, but there’s an almost species wide curiosity about the world around them – many take on scientific roles, and a great deal have left the planet for exploration purposes.
Their society is based primarily on meritocracy, which drives a lot of Cephaloids to do whatever they can to achieve some form of accomplishment.
